Hey SAMELIA’s WORLD!
If this is your first time checking out my blog, Welcome!
Hoping all of you had a lovely Valentine’s Day…
As the true “NEW YEAR” celebration count down of life begins, my birthday. That’s right… My New Year starts on my birthday every year SAMELIA’s WORLD.
As yours truly love celebrating life every year… Living is truly a blessing that I think we all take for granted at times. So if you are feeling like all you do is work or exist in the world start living!
All the years I have been on this earth. Some of my friends and I never have been to New Orleans, Marti Gras. You know I have spent time to Louisiana, but never New Orleans. Years ago I tried to head to New Orleans but, hurricane Katrina beat me there. Clearly had to change plans on that trip!
So this year I made that trip. Yours truly wanted to visit the place that is said to have great music, their own language, and where you can drink “adult beverages” openly on the street. I mean, who would not want to experience this?
Being a Fine Arts major, the costumes, theatrics, and drama were right up my alley. With all the live music and people dancing in the streets there was no need to go to a club. There was music and people everywhere!
The food was amazing to go along with the entertainment. If you are fortunate enough to visit New Orleans you have to try Drago’s Seafood Restaurant. They have the best charbroiled oysters for sure!
Yours Truly could not get enough of them. If you are heading to the French Quarter make sure you go to Decatur street to the World famous Café Du Monde for the yummy Beignets. Oh my goodness they just melt in your mouth.
Yours truly must have gained 10 lbs on this trip and you know how nuts I am about keeping my weight down. But, this was my “New Year’s Celebration” so I had to let go and enjoy myself. All the food was superb!
So, if you have never been to Mardi Gras it is definitely something to put on your Bucket List. The southern hospitality was impeccable. It did not matter where my friends and I went we are being treated well. It also does not hurt to go with someone that is familiar with the city.
A great time with great people so far…
In actuality other than New York, it is probably one of the easiest places to have a celebration without worrying about driving.
